My Dad Up And Getting A Classic Mustang
I really haven’t so much been able to speak on the blog quite as often as I had expected, on account of how much I have been roped into helping my Dad manage his super nutball midlife crisis. True, you might think it’s not as far gone as it could possibly be. How it went, I mean what he did was he dressed up like he was Fonzie or something, and storm over to my place and casually inform me, in his hippest dialect: “Get ready, son, we are out looking for some classic Mustang sales. You heard that right, son, I’m all set to buy one.”
And so him and me were hopping around to a few of those weird classic car places that everybody is mostly sure are owned by the mob, and I see the dude cut a check right there on the spot, for a very sparkly classic Ford automobile. I mean, it really is one hell of a car. It made some great noise too.
There’s a reason why I said that last sentence in the past tense. It had a great sound until it stopped making any noises. The old man informs me that it is just a quick problem and he just needs the right part. Only thing is, it can’t possibly be as easy to locate 1965 Mustang parts as it was like 30 years ago, but he insists that there is a pretty sizable market for them in spite of their age. It seems like the nicest way to buy parts for 1968 Mustangs is by way of online auctions, because you can find them refurbbed and occasionally as good as new. They’re not necessarily super-cheap, however… After all, these are thirty year old automobile parts.
Could be worse, though… He could have bought himself a toupee.
