Using artwork to make your home look better.
I have been walking round regional galleries recently over North Wiltshire, West Wiltshire, Kennet and South Wiltshire and found that the numerous galleries be they in Chippenham Wiltshire or Malmesbury Wiltshire are packed with some amazing local artists prints and a number of brilliant national artists prints. I decided to provide a break down of some brilliant artists that are about at the moment that have created pieces that are of benefit taking a look at. Art is for all of us and a good print placed in the right space of a room can create a different kind of atmosphere.
The 1st painter I wanted to talk about is the Scottish artist Jack Vettriano who I feel is producing exceptional works of art if you like film noir. For me when I look at his paintings I feel like I’m looking at a scene from an American detective scene or a scene from Miss Marple. Seems a little flippant perhaps but add to that a strong feel of sensuality and strength and you will start to have a feel of his paintings. Jack Vettriano’s work can be seen in print all over the planet and develops strong tones to a place when you need to add depth and tension.
The 2nd artist I wanted to discuss away from moody tones to uplifting large characters. I think Beryl Cook was one of Britain’s greatest painters of British character scenes. Many of us recognise her painted people as big ladies by the seaside, but the range of her paintings brings so much humour to normal events of real individuals having a moment. Look at her work as I know she will make you smile, her work is bright and raises the mood of a place.
The 3rd person I wanted to share with you is Philip Gray the Irish painter who paints beautiful moody scenes that I feel are so stunning and effective that you really sense how it must have been to be looking onto them in real life. His work is very thought provoking using colours that only nature’s beautiful sunsets and dawns can reveal. There is always a sense of dramatic quiet about his paintings and is really of benefit a look if you like dramatic landscapes. Most homes will benefit from pieces of this artists work.
The 4th painter I wanted to talk about was Duncan Macgregor who makes scenes that reflect his passion for the ocean. Many of his paintings have boats travelling through their canvas which for lovers of the sea like myself adds points of focus in gorgeous reflective scapes of the ocean. His paintings are often quite striking using strong colours to reflect the contrasts of the sea.
These are good painters to look at to give you a broad range of styles that reveal the massive impact art can have on yourself or other individuals as they enter a room. Art I think should be something that allows you to dream about something else outside of your day to day. It can make all the difference to a room with empty walls, providing just the feel you want to show an aspect of self.
